Bihar badh fasal sahayata- The application for the affected crop damage caused by the increase in the water level of the river by the Agriculture Department of the Bihar government has started from 22 August 2025. While the farmers of Patori block have been denied this. Due to which there is a lot of anger in them and a complaint has been sent to the Bihar government on behalf of the Citizen Sangharsh Morcha.

Most of the villages of Patori Block, Mohanpur Block, Mohiuddin Nagar block are situated on the banks of Ganga under Patori subdivision of Samastipur district. Due to which every farmers also have to face crop loss due to floods. At present, Surjeet Shyamal, Convenor, Citizen Sangharsh Morcha has accused the farmers of Panchayat under Patori block under the Agricultural Input Grants Scheme-(2025-26) on 22 August 2025.

Farmers’ loss of heavy crop

Surjeet said that the three blocks under Patori subdivision are completely dependent on agriculture of Patori, Mohanpur and Mohanpur and Mohanuddinnagar respectively. Whereas due to the rise in the water level in the Ganges river, the farmers have suffered heavy crops due to flood water in Dhamoun, Tara-Dhamun, Chakseema, Shiura, Darba Chaud etc. of Patori block via the tributary Baya. On the other hand, the farmers of the panchayat given in the table below can take the above benefits.

Under the Agricultural Input Grant Scheme-(2025-26), the date of application for the affected crop damage due to excess rainfall or increase in water level of the river has been kept from 22 August 2025 to 5 September 2025. In which Patori block in Samastipur district has not been included in the flood affected area. Due to which farmers under Patori block will be deprived of taking advantage under the said scheme. Whereas it is completely dependent on farming.

Surjeet Shyamal has also demanded the Bihar government to increase the time of application to the farmers of Patori block with an opportunity to apply for compensation for crop loss from floods. Due to which there is an apprehension among the farmers of Patori block. Now it has to be seen how long the Nitish Kumar government takes cognizance of this.
